As President, Matt Matteson is responsible for the daily corporate operations, including financial and business management, staffing, and the development and implementation of corporate policies, while also focusing on the Companies' development activities and strategic growth initiatives. He has a central role in asset management decisions, as well as integrating and coordinating property management, accounting, asset management and corporate functions to maximize return on investments and corporate growth. Coming to The Matteson Companies in 1986 from the San Francisco law firm of Morrison & Foerster where he practiced real estate law, Mr. Matteson acted as General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer prior to becoming President in 1996.
Mr. Matteson is a Past President of the California Apartment Association, the largest state association of rental housing owners in the United States, and a Past President of the Tri-County Apartment Association (which serves Santa Clara, San Mateo and Santa Cruz Counties). Matt serves on the Board of Directors of the Redwood City/San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce, and also serves on the Board of Trustees of Menlo School, a private college preparatory in Atherton, California. He was active for many years as a member of the Finance Committee of the Hoover Institution on War, Revolution and Peace at Stanford University. Matt graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Southern California in Business Administration, and earned his law degree from Stanford University. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in California, and is a member of the California State Bar.
