Duncan Matteson began his career in real estate development and investment in 1964 on the San Francisco Peninsula, and he founded Matteson Investment Corporation in 1978 (the first of The Matteson Companies). He is a former Chairman of the National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC), a national association of the largest developers, owners and managers of apartment and condominium properties in the United States. A recognized leader in the commercial real estate industry, Mr. Matteson serves as an independent member of the Board of Directors of RREEF America REIT III, Inc., a private Real Estate Investment Trust organized and administered by The RREEF Funds, which acquires apartment, industrial, retail and office properties in targeted metropolitan areas throughout the U.S.
Mr. Matteson's professional activities extend well beyond the real estate industry. He was the founding Chairman of the Board of Mid-Peninsula Bank in 1986 and currently serves as Chairman of Greater Bay Bancorp, a regional bank holding company for eleven banks with over $7 billion in assets, headquartered in Palo Alto, with offices throughout the entire San Francisco Bay Area. A leader in Mid-Peninsula area community service activities, Mr. Matteson is particularly involved in the support of medical and educational institutions. He serves as a Trustee and former Chairman of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Board of Trustees, as a Director of The Heart Council at the Stanford University School of Medicine, and past Director of The Stanford Athletic Board. He has long been active in national, state and local politics.
Mr. Matteson earned his business degree from the University of Missouri where he is currently a Director of the Strategic Development Board of the Business School.
